Updates on Encounter

Welcome back! When we discuss Encounter in the context of Pastoral Planning, our primary intent is for people to encounter Jesus through engaging more purposefully with each other and with newcomers.

Our hope is to unite our two campuses together as one parish through the following initiatives, which some parishioners have already embraced:

The Holy Grounds Café allows our parishioners – both English and Spanish speaking – to build community by getting to know each other over coffee after Mass. It was a huge success when it launched in the fall and will return as soon as COVID allows.

Our Welcome Desk, operated by Parish Office Staff outside Masses on weekends, is a great opportunity to provide resources to our community. Parishioners, newcomers and visitors, looking for a parish home, have the opportunity to ask questions, pick up informational handouts and purchase Mass cards.

More opportunities to grow in discipleship and worship during Mass will allow people to grow deeper in their faith. Advent saw a fully coordinated Mass schedule where all homilies spoke to the same central themes each week. Tied to those themes was the request to talk to a neighbor. This will happen again during Lent. A new concept for our community, we hope to grow our comfort level and expand with shared prayer opportunities in the future.
