11.16/25 update: THIS WEEKEND, WE COLLECTED OVER 3,000 POUNDS OF FOOD AND PERSONAL HYGIENE PRODUCTS. THAT is One-and-One-Half TONS of your generosity shared with neighbors.
Since 2016, the Catholic Church has observed the World Day of the Poor on the 33rd Sunday of Ordinary Time as way for Catholics to reflect more deeply on our call to love the poor as our brothers and sisters.
THIS WEEKEND, ( November 15 – 16) we contribute to a Food Drive supporting our local neighbors in need with non-perishable food as well as toiletries and personal hygiene products. THIS WEEKEND, we return with our monthly commitment of providing frozen casseroles to support the work of Our Daily Bread serving the homeless and hungry in Baltimore. THIS WEEKEND, in our second collection, we offer financial support of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development which provides crucial support to both growing and longstanding organizations that promote justice, neighborhood improvement, and job creation for marginalized groups.
Pope Leo reminds us that “The poor are not a distraction for the Church, but our beloved brothers and sisters, for by their lives, their words and their wisdom, they put us in contact with the truth of the Gospel. The celebration of the World Day of the Poor is meant to remind our communities that the poor are at the heart of all our pastoral activity.
